In the southern part of the World Heritage Site lies the Rönnskär archipelago and the island of Fäliskär with its characteristic daymark. The daymark was built in 1784 and is one of Finland's oldest preserved wooden navigational markers. Both pilots and coastguards have been active on the island, which served as a gateway to the port of Vaasa in the days of steamboats. Nowadays, the island is a popular excursion destination among boaters.

From Sommarösund you set sail towards the horizon and sail mostly over open sea. The crossing takes 4-5 hours in each direction. On Fäliskäret there is a fireplace where you can eat and drink your packed lunch and then go and discover the island. You can start at the lookout tower where you have a nice view in all directions. Why not go down to the smooth cliffs on the west side of the island where the waves of the Bothnian Sea roll in. To the south you can also see Strömmingbådan lighthouse at approx. 5 nautical miles away.
If you like adventures and historical places, Rönnskär is a perfect destination for a full day at sea.
